Probably fine for it's intended use for tracing, and it works in a pinch as a light box for a full archival sheet of film negatives but I would not recommend this for use as a backlight for digitizing film negatives or slides.                 Super Bright Light: Suron LED light pad comes with many super bright LED lamps in it which can see through very thick paper.
